We Need Us

If our systems fail and the world falls down,
Promise me you’ll stick around;
If the lights go out and the clouds roll in,
Say you’ll stay by me, my friend.

If we’re living for ourselves
Then we’re sure to die alone;
If we’re loving our reflections
Then the enemy’s won.

We’re chipping away in the wrong direction
When we find ourselves miles from home;
We’re making all the wrong decisions
When our systems fail and we can’t get home.

If our systems fail and the world falls down,
Promise me you’ll stick around;
If the lights go out and the clouds roll in,
Say you’ll stay by me, my friend.

Here is Hope for You

My dear, my dear, it is now so:
The liars you’ve loved
Have all since gone home.

They are not here to hold,
They have since left you cold;
You can call their name,
But they've all deemed you, “sold.”

Do not venture out into the night
Searching streets for the solace
You once found in their eyes.
You won’t find their warmth
In a stranger’s home
Between foreign sheets.

My dear, my dear, face life today:
Remember days when we would say,
“This winter will not hold us down,
This weather will not take us now.”

Remember infant dreams
And childish gleams
The next time you decide
To trust one who
May not be all that he seems.

My dear, my dear, you deserve so much more
Than dark lullabies and glistening lies.
Your story may not have reached its end,
But you, my dear, shall find love again.

Echoes

We may never conquer our limitations
Until we learn to forget the faults locked
Within the vaults of our mind's expectations.

We can speculate the future,
Even analyze the past,
But our reality depends upon
What we choose to move past.

We may be wounded by the
Sticks and stones of
The vices of our neighbors,
We may be murdered by their words.
In the end all that will matter is
Not that our deeds were seen,
But that their echoes were heard.

Don't Fight It

Show me the dreams you buried deep beneath your fears,
Let fall the fright you’ve held tight from behind your tears;
Follow the echoes of the hope you hide within,
Be born into the beauty of your tender skin.

I long to know the forests of your fragile mind,
Take me to timbers laying, waiting to be found;
You hold the key to treasures concealed there inside,
Take me to the shores where we can ransom their sound.

Tomorrow is too long to wait for what today may find,
Let’s search for you among the leaves of life you left behind;
Draw in the waters that refresh your timid tongue,
Let fly the melodies of freedom songs you’ve sung.

Let's Get Lost to Pass the Time

I get lost within the cracks between
The fragments of my mind,
And I go there all the time;
I go there to run from time.

I get washed up on the shores beyond
The borders of this land,
And I sink into the sands;
I sink deep into those sands.

Let’s get lost among the shadows,
Let’s sink deep into the tide;
Let your feet follow your heart,
Let your head forget its pride.

I get lost within the cracks between
The fragments of my soul,
And I go there all alone;
I go there to be alone.

I get washed up in the rivers running
Rampant through my veins,
And I drown there to be sane,
I drown just to be sane.

Let’s get lost from what we know,
Let’s fall back into past times;
Let your hand rest atop mine,
Let your hand get lost in mine.
