Valleys and Depths

Bury your resentment in your chest;
Hide the anger deep within
Your valleys and your depths.

The fruit we find fallen upon our floors
Are remnants of the faults exchanged
At the thresholds of our front doors.
We banish to our basement walls
The ghosts of those we once adored.

Your wounded eyes are blinded by regret;
Resentment casts a shadow
On the past you’d soon forget;
Only Time will whisper what will come
Of anger and reluctance left unchecked.

Hold on all you want to ropes
Springing out from days long gone;
Cling to strings you dragged out from
The front lines of battles never won.

Bury your resentment in your chest;
Hide the anger deep within
Your valleys and your depths.

There is freedom from this form
Of denial that has left you torn;
The faults of those who trod before our time
Are not meant to become your downfall or mine.

Release the resentment in your chest;
Shed light on the abyss within
Your valleys and your depths.
